Food Assessment
Eastern nutrition is a foundation in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Certain foods boost Qi, clear Damp or support the Kidneys much like Herbs or certain Acupuncture points. We are not calorie counting or measuring fat content. Rather, Eastern nutrition looks at the energetics of food, how you’re eating, and how that food interacts with your body’s Qi (life force). There are no absolutes in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Sugar is not always “bad’’ and tofu is not always “good”. Food choices and suggestions are carefully considered in relation to the uniqueness of an individual and their health pattern.
When you come in to see a practitioner for a food assessment, they will ask you to keep a food diary for one week. The purpose of this diary is not to create stress around what you eat. Instead, the information you record will help the practitioner assess how the foods you eat interact with your health concerns, as well as allow them to make dietary recommendations that will help support your health and well-being. We hope this diary also fosters awareness around food choices and how dietary habits affect your overall health and day-to-day enjoyment of life. At Six Degrees, we see food as a source of pleasure, fuel and medicine. We want our clients to foster an enjoyable, positive and knowledgeable relationship with their food.Food

Homeopathy
A 200 year old holistic system of medicine, founded by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, based on healing the individual as a whole. Natural substances taken from plant, animal and mineral kingdoms are matched with the entire physical, mental and emotional picture of the patient. Once this match is taken by the individual the body's natural system of healing is triggered to take over the ailment. Homeopathy works based on the principle of "like cures like". This means a substance that causes symptoms in a healthy person can treat the same symptoms in illness.
The first consultation involves 2 hours or more, asking detailed questions about current health issues, past history, life style, mental and emotional symptoms, family history and many more questions that will help in learning about the individual. Case taking is a diagnostic tool for the homoeopath to learn the essence of the patient and the root cause of the ailments. During the process of case taking the homoeopath is searching for the most rare, strange and peculiar symptoms in the patients and not the common symptoms of the disease; although a homoeopath must possess a complete knowledge of common symptoms of different pathologies to be able to differentiate between them and the peculiar symptoms. The rare, strange and peculiar symptoms are the ones that determine the selection of the remedy by the homoeopath. From here on, case taking, evolves for the patients, to a process of awareness and exploration of their own unique experiences. Patients become partners with their Homoeopaths in recognizing the progress and identifying areas that need work.(ref: www.ontariohomeopath.com)
What can homoeopathy help with?
Homoeopathy is based on healing the individual as a whole and not just physical symptoms, so many physical/mental/emotional symptoms can be improved while the balance is returned to the individual in both acute and chronic conditions. The goal of homeopathy and a homeopath is to help healing process of individual in a gentle and harmonious way. Along with homeopathic healing methods there will be balanced nutrition and diet suggestions appropriate to each individual.

Fundamentals of Relational Psychotherapy:
As Human Beings We Are All Relational
We experience and learn about ourselves and the world through our interaction with our caregivers, friends, teachers and our culture. These interactions help shape our worldview and the ways we relate to others in the world.
Uncovering Relational Dynamics That Affect Our Well-Being
Relational Psychotherapy encourages the exploration of our ways of relating to ourselves and others, as well as our understanding of the world and our way of being in that world, as it relates to our emotions. When difficulty arises in our lives, we are able to trace back these difficulties to our earliest interactions with our caregivers.
Fostering Awareness Of Self And Other In Relationships
In the therapeutic relationship, individuals are able to discuss their concerns and struggles in a safe environment that encourages self-expression, heightened self-awareness, exploration and deeper understanding of negative feelings.
Laura Lee works with individuals who are 18 years or older who may be experiencing, or have experienced, the following:
- Stress
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Trauma
- Relationship difficulties
She also welcomes individuals who would like to learn more about themselves through deeper exploration concerning their way of being and relating to the world and others in that world. If you would like further information about her services or would like to book an appointment, you can leave a confidential phone message at 647-342-9133.
She offers a sliding scale that ranges between $50 - $90 per 60 minute session. The exact fee is determined during your initial consultation. The consultation fee is $25 for a 60 min session. If you are on ODSP or Canada pension, or have an individual income of $30000 or less and would like psychotherapy services, please contact her to negotiate a suitable rate.
